Himalayan Balsam has become a national problem. The invasive plant has taken over many areas to the detriment of native species.
With the assistance of Paul Bown from Derbyshire County Council, DCS and volunteers are tackling the ‘superweed’ along Unstone Line. The plant has to be pulled up by the roots before the seeds appear and then left to rot down in piles. Benefits of removal are immediate for other plant species.
Thanks to all our volunteers as we begin to tackle this problem in our area.
