A Position Statement

Dronfield Civic Society was founded in 1989 following concerns about traffic in the town raised by members of Dronfield Rotary Club.

In our fourth decade, we continue to improve the local street scene, monitor planning applications with particular focus on the Conservation Areas and provide opportunities for local people to get involved in shaping where they live.

During 2025, the former Chair and Treasurer of the Civic Society Committee gave notice of their intention to step down and subsequently initiated a process to close the Society. People came forward to fill the required positions of Acting Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.

A relaunch meeting took place on June 3rd 2026 where a vote was taken to reverse the closure decision. With a new committee in place, the Society can continue...
